Many ketogenic diet plans play up the fact that the keto diet is basically a fat feast. Meaning, as long as you’re tossing out the bun, you can have your In-N-Out burger topped off with American cheese and Hellman’s mayonnaise.
Here’s the deal. You can absolutely maintain ketosis and shred weight by consuming low-grade beef and trans fats. Only problem is— there’s nothing healthy about it. Yes, you’ll continue to lose weight— but over time you’re looking at clogged arteries, raised triglycerides and an increased risk of developing heart disease or cancer.
So in order to cash in on ALL the benefits (HULK-like energy, disease prevention, longevity, etc.) you’ve got to focus on clean ketogenic foods. Clean keto is about eating nutrient dense, whole foods. Period. Leafy greens, consciously sourced proteins, and unprocessed fats. It’s really that simple. And just in case it’s not that simple, I’ve created a free guidebook breaking down the best foods and supplements for a clean keto diet.

But let’s be honest, it’s not always practical to cook everything from scratch or to avoid processed foods 100% of the time. The good news is, with keto blowing up there are more delicious (and nutritious) packaged food items available than ever before. In no particular order, here are the 10 Best Clean Keto Snacks.
1. gimMe Seaweed Strips

These seaweed strips are money when it comes to satisfying salty cravings. First of all, they’re made of seaweed— which happens to be naturally salty. Second, seaweed is a quality source of soluble vitamins (E, D, A, and K), and soluble vitamins help silence our cravings for rich, fatty foods. I like to eat these straight out when I’m feeling munchy, or use them as wraps accompanied by smoked salmon or king crab and avocado when feeling fancy.
2. Epic Pork Skins

Epic pork rinds are made from pork skins raised without antibiotics. They’re low-carb and gluten free— making them a great snack for keto enthusiasts. Epic has come out with a whole line of flavors, though I’d put their Maple Bacon Pork Cracklings at the top of the pile. These offer a hint of sweetness without compromising your sugar intake. Plus, they’re extremely satiating— so if you’re a fellow fatty with an insatiable appetite— you may have met your match.
3. Hippie Snacks

Hippie Snacks has come out with a whole line of keto-friendly snacks— avocado and cauliflower crisps, coconut clusters, etc. Yum! Their products are plant based, certified organic, Non-GMO, and gluten-free— jackpot! Plus, they’re absolutely delicious!
4. Four Sigmatic Mushroom Cacao Mix

Obsessed. That about sums it up! This tea is the latest addition to my nightly ritual. At 25 calories per serving, you’re safe to sip away without breaking your fast. Four Sigmatic is committed to delivering adaptogens and cordyceps while maintaining an elegant and sophisticated flavor profile.
5. Ella’s Flats

Ella’s Flats are a staple in my kitchen. These savory crisps are made entirely of seeds. Now, I’ve tasted plenty of other seed crackers on the market that taste like straight-up cardboard— and I’m telling you, these are the exception to the rule. What’s more, unlike their cardboard-esk counterparts, Ella’s contains zero grams of trans fats— cheehoo! I like to enjoy these with kale guacamole or cashew cheese. Yes please!
6. Primal Kitchen Collagen Bars

The majority of protein bars on the market are well, garbage. Most are chuck-full of sugar, low-grade protein and carbohydrates. I generally recommend clients avoid protein bars altogether. Unless, we’re talking about Primal Kitchen. Mark Sisson has done it again! His entire line is not only clean, but it’s keto-friendly and damn are they delicious! Primal Kitchen has a line of protein as well as collagen bars. I generally recommend the collagen bars because collagen has additional metabolic benefits.
7. Fat Snax Cookies

So perhaps I’m bending the rules a bit here— because in my book, any product that contains sugar alcohols is not exactly the cleanest. However, as far as sweet, convenient, keto treats are concerned— Fat Snax are one of the best. They come in a variety of flavors— all of which are delicious— so take your pick. As with any sweet treat on keto— be sure to indulge occasionally and refrain from making these an everyday experience.
8. Betsy’s Best

I’ve got to caution you here, because you’re gonna want to down the entire jar in one sitting— this stuff is crack! Again, her butters contain a bit of sugar, so we can’t exactly call Betsy’s the cleanest— but for a sweet treat (without undoing an entire days work)— this is as good as it gets! Personally, I like the Cinnamon Almond Butter with Chia. I scoop out one serving size and place the jar back in the cupboard (this is crucial)— I can’t be trusted!
9. Gold Nugget Ghee

Made from organic butter, sourced from grass-fed cows, Gold Nugget Ghee offers a traditional ghee preparation as well as a version enhanced with lion’s mane mushroom (adaptogen) and turmeric. If you’re really looking to treat yourself, I’d recommend trying their ultra-rich Chocolate Honey Ghee— pair that with a slice of cheese on a flat crisp— holy hell!
10. Chomps Snack Sticks

Chomps are made with 100% grass-fed beef. Plus, unlike most meat sticks on the market, Chomps are free of gluten, MSG, soy, synthetic preservatives, hormones and antibiotics. Wow! They come in a variety of flavors offering up 9 grams of protein, 6 grams of fat and 0 grams of carbs— making them the perfect ketogenic snack.
